PHIL LYNOTT: in arrivo un super box e l’album perduto ‘Fatalistic Attitude’

Nell’aprile del 1981, durante un’esibizione agli studi della BBC per The Old Grey Whistle Test, Phil Lynott regalò al pubblico una perla rara intitolata Somebody Else’s Dream. Quella performance avrebbe dovuto fare da apripista a Fatalistic Attitude, quello che nelle intenzioni originali doveva essere il suo secondo lavoro solista. La storia, tuttavia, prese una piega diversa: il materiale venne rivisto, riarrangiato e infine ripubblicato nel 1982 con il titolo di The Philip Lynott Album, lasciando Fatalistic Attitude e diverse tracce originali chiuse nei cassetti degli archivi.

A distanza di decenni, quel capitolo sospeso della discografia del leggendario frontman dei Thin Lizzy trova finalmente la sua collocazione ufficiale. Il prossimo 30 ottobre 2026 vedrà la luce The Story Of My Life, un monumentale boxset da 8 CD curato dallo storico archivista della band Nick Sharp, realizzato con il pieno supporto dell’Estate di Phil Lynott.

L’album perduto e l’archivio definitivo

Il vero fiore all’occhiello di questa pubblicazione è proprio la prima release ufficiale e standalone di Fatalistic Attitude (presente nel secondo disco come Alternate Album), che restituisce ai fan la visione primordiale di Lynott prima delle modifiche che portarono alla release del 1982.

Oltre ai due album solisti ufficiali, l’opera si configura come un vero e proprio compendio analitico per addetti ai lavori e collezionisti:

Inediti e rarità – Versioni 12″, mix alternativi e lati B storici (tra cui le iconiche declinazioni di Yellow Pearl, diventata sigla di Top of the Pops, e Nineteen).
Collaborazioni e spunti storici – Il disco cinque raccoglie le tracce condivise con Gary Moore (Parisienne Walkways, Out In The Fields e Live at Ulster Hall 1984), perle come A Tribute To Sandy Denny e le registrazioni dal vivo con i Grand Slam.
Nastri di prova e demo – Ampio spazio è dedicato ai provini in studio e alle sessioni di prove della Solo Band del 1982, offrendo uno spaccato crudo e senza filtri del processo creativo dell’artista irlandese.

Il cofanetto, confezionato in un packaging deluxe, include un saggio firmato da Mark Blake (Mojo), corredato da memorabilia e scatti fotografici inediti.
