Intervista a Martin Beck e Nick Holleman (Induction)
Dopo aver introdotto il progetto Induction e, dopo aver recensito il primo singolo ‘Far Beyond The Horizon’, si rende disponibile nelle versioni in lingua italiana e lingua inglese, l’intervista al leader Martin Beck e Nick Holleman (già Vicious Rumors) nella quale vengono approfondite le informazioni riguardanti l’uscita del secondo singolo ‘The Outwitted Consacration’ avvenuta il 12-06-2016
Ciao Martin, ciao Nick e benvenuti su Suoni Distorti Magazine. Grazie per questa intervista. Prima di tutto, come è nato il progetto Induction?
Martin: Ciao a tutti! Sì, devo fare una digressione.Penso quando ho iniziato a suonare la chitarra a 10 anni più o meno,poi sono stato in alcune band emergenti locali in Repubblica Ceca. Ma dopo alcuni anni,non riuscivo a trovare cosa e dove volevo suonare. Così ho deciso di fondare “Induction” nel 2014 e seguire i miei sogni,etc.
Abbiamo provato a pubblicare il primo singolo “Far Beyond The Horizon” con i miei amici della Repubblica Ceca e questo è stato l’inizio di tutto,ma ,come sai,non è stata una buona strada. Così mi sono trasferito a Londra l’anno scorso e dopo dopo aver azzerato tutto, ho continuato a lavorare sull’album. Ora abbiamo appena pubblicato l’anteprima dell’album con il singolo “The Outwitted Consecration” e ,con questo spirito,verrà fuori l’album completo.”
Il secondo singolo “The Outwitted Consacration” è ,finalmente, disponibile. Una scelta particolare quella dell’art cover in stile egiziana. Perché?
Nick: E’ dovuto al tema della canzone. Se guardi attentamente ,puoi notare che lo sfondo è fatto di numeri uno e zero,il codice binario. Il testo di questa canzone è dedicato a noi,gente che ha una fonte di verità,qualcosa su cui fare affidamento o meno.
Anni fa questa fonte era il Faraone, ai nostri tempi, noi interroghiamo Google. O Wikipedia o qualunque cosa. Dovremmo sempre cercare nuove cose da soli ed evolvere noi stessi. Abbiamo combinato questi elementi in uno, con questo significato nascosto all’interno.
Come è nata la vostra collaborazione?
Martin: Ho lavorato per un progetto norvegese suonando alcune parti per il brano con Nick alla voce. Ho detto qualcosa come ”Oh,è proprio un gran cantante!”, era proprio il cantante che cercavo. Perciò l’ho contattato e dopo alcuni giorni ci siamo incontrati in Olanda per parlare della nostra collaborazione. Gli ho mostrato alcune demo delle canzoni ed è stato contento fin da subito, dall’inizio della collaborazione.
Nick, come ti senti in questo nuovo progetto?
Nick: E’ stato fatto un ottimo lavoro sul singolo, tutto sommato. Sento di aver fatto davvero un buon lavoro in questo progetto. Mi piace lo stile musicale che ha la band, ognuno ha un gran talento ed è molto professionale. Ed è un buon contesto per lavorarci. Ognuno ha fatto ciò che doveva fare, con lo scopo di tenere il processo in esecuzione come una macchina ben oliata (ride,ndr).
Si è lavorato duramente in studio, e ho visto le nuove canzoni da fare e sviluppare insieme ,come abbiamo accennato,poi ho visto molto potenziale per il futuro. Ma,sì, è uno spasso lavorare con questi ragazzi ,con tanto divertimento e abbiamo creato qualcosa insieme!
Avete registrato due singoli negli studi di Roland Grapow. Ci sono stati momenti difficili? Avete voglia di raccontarmi anche quelli divertenti avvenuti durante la produzione?
Martin: Roland è davvero un grande produttore, penso che sia il migliore in Europa. Vive in un piccolo villaggio in Slovacchia perciò ogni volta che andiamo lì, c’è davvero un’atmosfera amichevole, ovunque. Che è una delle cose più importanti durante il processo di registrazione, intendo dire che ci si sente bene, rilassati, sai. Il primo singolo “Far Beyond The Horizon” è stato registrato davvero velocemente, ma il secondo “The Outwitted Consacration” lo è stato per più tempo.
E’ una traccia forte e l’ abbiamo scelta come anteprima perciò abbiamo trattato con ogni nota, come sai. Ci sono stati momenti difficili durante il processo di registrazione come lo scambio di esperienze, etc… Ma ci sono stati anche tanti momenti divertenti come ogni visita dei posti in cui vive Roland. Sono una persona divertente (Spero – ride ndr) e Roland ugualmente perciò ogni volta ci divertiamo tutti insieme con gli altri ragazzi.
Ricordo quando Kai Hansen è venuto a trovarci durante il processo di masterizzazione in studio, poi specialmente in questo momento ci sono state tante cose divertenti.
Nick, descrivi Martin con un aggettivo. Martin, fa la stessa cosa.
Nick: Penso che “occupato” sia il termine migliore per Martin. E’ anche la parola che ho sentito nominare più spesso da lui (ride, ndr). Mette il cuore in questo progetto e fa qualsiasi cosa per portarlo avanti. Ammiro questa passione, con il risultato di essere sempre occupato (ride, ndr).
Martin: Sono occupato! Grazie Nick (ride, ndr). Sì, Nick è una gran persona, mi piace. Penso che lui sia più occupato di me (ride, ndr).
Avete concerti in programma? Vi vedremo live in Italia?
Martin: Certamente! Stiamo già pensando al tour dopo l’album e anche l’Italia è “sulla carta” perciò ci vedremo!

–Hi Martin, Hi Nick and welcome on SDM. Thanks for accepting this interview.First of all, how was born this “Induction” project?
Martin: Hey everyone! Yeah, that’s a little bit story… When I started playing on the guitar around 10 years old I think, then I was in some bands like “regional bands” in Czech Republic. But after some years, I couldn’t find what and where I want to playing. Then I decided to found Induction around year 2014 and follow my dreams, etc. We tried to release the first single “Far Beyond the Horizon” with my friends from Czech Republic and that was the start of everything, but it wasn’t that much good way you know. So I moved to London last year and after setup of everything here I began to continue again on the album. Now we just released the preview from the album like single “The Outwitted Consecration” and in this similar spirit will be the full-length album.
Second single “The Outwitted Consecration” is finally out. What about the Egyptian Art Cover?
Nick: It has to do with the theme of the song. If you look very carefully, you can see that the background is built out of ones and zeroes, binary code. The lyrical theme in this song is about us people having one source of truth, something to fall beg on or rely on. Ages ago that source was called the pharaoh, now we call it Google. Or Wikipedia or whatever. We should always keep searching for new things ourselves and evolve ourselves. We wanted to combine theses elements into one with this meaning hidden in there.
How was born your collaboration?
Martin: I worked for one Norweigan project and I got the tracks for the song with Nick’s voice. I said something like “Oh, he is really great singer!”, he was exactly singer which I wanted. So I contacted him and after some days we had the meeting in Netherlands for speaking about the collaboration between us. I showed to him some demo songs and he was happy so from that time we started the collaboration.
Nick, how do you feel in this new project?
Nick: It was great working on the single already, let alone the entire record. I really feel great working in this project. I love the musical style the band has, everyone is very talented and highly professional. And that’s a great environment to work in. Everyone does what he has to do, which keeps the process running, like a well oiled machine haha. It worked out great in the studio, and I see the new songs coming together and developing as we speak, so I see a lot of potential for the future. But yes, it’s a blast to work with these guys, a lot of fun and we create something together!
You mastered two singles at Roland Grapow’s studios. There was some difficult moments? Would you tell me funny moments about production too?
Martin: Roland is really great producer, I think that he’s the best one in the middle of Europe. He living in small village in Slovakia so everytime when we’re going there, is really friendly atmospehre everyhwehere. Which is one of the important thing during the recording process, I mean like have a good feel, relax you know. The first single “Far Beyond the Horizon” was did really quickly but the second one “The Outwitted Consecration” was for more time. We wanted to have really great track like preview so we dealed with every note you know. There was difficult moments during the recording process like exchange of experiences, etc…
There was a lot of funny moments like every visits of Roland’s place. I’m funny person (I hope haha) and Roland as well so everytime we had a lot of fun together with other guys. I remeber when Kai Hansen visited us during the mastering process in the studio, so especially at this time was a lot of funny things.
Nick, describe Martin with an adjective. Martin, do the same to Nick.
Nick: I think busy is the best word for Martin, it’s also the word I heard most of him hahaha. He puts his heart into this project and does everything he can to take it to the next level. I admire that passion, resulting in being busy all the time haha
Martin: I’m busy! Thanks Nick haha. Yeah, Nick is great person, I like him. I think that is he more busy then me haha.
What about live gigs? We’ll see you in Italy for live ?
Martin: Of course! We already thinking about the tour after the album and Italy is “on the paper” as well so we will see!
