Xandria + Serenity + Jaded Star @ Live 23 (Bosco Marengo): il report della serata!

Domenica 7 Febbraio, nella sala del Live23 di Bosco Marengo (AL), abbiamo avuto la possibilità di assistere ad una serata decisamente pazzesca, non soltanto perchè i gruppi proponevano un genere che, personalmente, rientra tra i miei preferiti, ma principalmente perchè si sono esibiti nomi di rilevanza internazionale.

Unica tappa italiana per i tedeschi Xandria, attualmente in tour insieme agli austriaci Serenity e ai greci Jaded Star. Per l’occasione, ad aprire, i cremonesi HellCircles.

Arriviamo verso le otto, unico piccolo rammarico non aver potuto assistere all’esibizione degli HellCircles, anticipata probabilmente per non andar troppo oltre con gli orari in quanto l’evento si è tenuto di domenica. Fuori piove e anche le temperature non sono propriamente l’ideale ma una volta entrati, si capisce subito che non serviranno giacche e felpe a giudicare dal calore che il pubblico riserva ai propri beniamini, l’atmosfera è carica di attesa, ed è comprensibile data la grandezza dei gruppi che stanno per esibirsi. Il tempo di posizionarci, rigorosamente in prima fila, mentre sul palco gli HellCircles lasciano il posto ai Jaded Star e si comincia.

Look aggressivo e accattivante, i greci Jaded Star partono forte, proponendo brani dal loro “Memories from the Future”, debut album del 2015 rilasciato dall’etichetta americana Sensory Records. Alla voce la bella Maxi Nil (ex Vision of Atlantis) frontwoman perfetta per lo stile emozionante e potente dei Jaded Star. Capace di portare sul palco una presenza scenica fatta di tanto carattere e una grande carica di energia. Il gruppo nasce dalla collaborazione tra Maxi e Raphael Saini, batterista ed ex Iced Earth. La stessa Maxi, è anche produttrice del loro album, registrato in Svezia nei Fredman Studios.

Un breve cambio palco porta in scena i power symphonic austriaci Serenity. Accompagnati in questo tour dalla vocalist Tasha, i quattro capitanati da Georg Neuhauser alla voce mostrano subito di che pasta sono fatti, parliamo di un gruppo che ha condiviso le scene con alcuni dei più grandi nomi del panorama metal internazionale; Kamelot ed Edenbridge giusto per citarne alcuni. Un gruppo che imprime sin dalle prime note la propria forza e il proprio stile. Un omaggio al genio di casa nostra Leonardo Da Vinci da parte di Georg per partire con i brani del loro “Codex Atlanticus”, quinto album dei Serenity uscito la scorsa primavera.

In scaletta ci sono brani come “Iniquity” e “The perfect Woman”, particolarmente emozionante la ballad “My Final Chapter”, prima della quale Georg invita simpaticamente il pubblico ad alzare i cellulari illuminati per accompagnare la canzone con un tocco di atmosfera romantica. Da sottolineare il ringraziamento al pubblico dell’unico membro italiano del gruppo, il bassista Fabio D’Amore, che afferma di mancare dai palchi di casa nostra da diversi anni e di essere piacevolmente colpito dall’affetto che la gente effettivamente ha riservato ai Serenity. Un successo che personalmente ritengo sia pienamente meritato.

Carichi ed elettrizzati per ciò che abbiamo visto ed ascoltato fino ad ora, l’ultimo cambio palco ci proietta all’esibizione degli Xandria. Attesissimi dal pubblico, l’intro dai toni epici non fa che rafforzare l’atmosfera.

Avere la possibilità di vedere un live di un gruppo di questo genere è sempre un’esperienza che può diventare indimenticabile, e cosi è stato, almeno dal mio punto di vista. Il primo a salire sul palco è il batterista, che saluta incitando il pubblico mentre l’intro incalza promettendo l’arrivo degli altri membri della storica band tedesca. Ultima a comparire, la stupenda Dianne, che dal 2013 dà voce alle epiche storie tradotte in musica dagli Xandria. Eleganza e raffinatezza unite ad una voce spettacolare fanno di lei una presenza indescrivibile, una vera e propria regina, che in scena indossa una corona di teschi dorati, e che ci accompagna lungo un viaggio musicale in tredici tappe, tante quante le canzoni in scaletta.

Brani come “Nightfall”, “Nevermore”, “Cursed” e “Voyage of the Fallen”, per concludersi poi con l’acclamato “Valentine”. Impossibile non lasciarsi coinvolgere dallo stile e dalle particolarità di un gruppo che rientra a mio parere, nell’Olimpo del symphonic metal europeo.

Vorrei concludere con una considerazione riguardo al fatto che rimango sempre piacevolmente colpito quando gruppi di questo calibro, e nello specifico mi riferisco a tutte e tre le band, dimostrano non solo la loro grande arte sul palco, ma anche tanta simpatia quando si ha la possibilità di interagire con loro, e che per questo meritano appieno tutto l’affetto e il supporto dei loro fans.

Infine doveroso un ringraziamento allo staff del Live23 che ci ospita sempre con infinita disponibilità mettendoci sempre in condizione, non solo di assistere a serate memorabili come questa, ma anche di aver modo di poterle raccontare attraverso le foto e i live report.

Sunday, February 7th, in the Live23 room of Bosco Marengo (AL), we had the opportunity to attend a very crazy night, not only because the groups proposed a genre that personally, is one of my favorites, but mostly because they performed major international names. Only Italian stop for the Germans Xandria, currently on tour together with the Austrians Serenity and Greeks Jaded Star. For the occasion, to open, the HellCircles from Cremona.

We arrive around eight, only small regret not being able to attend the exhibition of HellCircles, early probably not to go too far with the times since the event was held on Sunday. Raining outside and also the temperatures are not exactly ideal but once inside, it soon becomes clear that will not serve jackets and sweatshirts judging by the heat that the public reserve the sporting events, the atmosphere is charged with expectation, and it is understandable given the size of the groups that are going to perform. The time to position ourselves, strictly in the front row, while on stage HellCircles give way to Jaded Star and all begin.

Look aggressive and captivating, the Greeks Jaded Star strong start, offering songs from their “Memories from the Future”, the debut album of 2015 released by the American label Sensory Records. To voice the beautiful Maxi Nil (ex Vision of Atlantis) perfect frontwoman for the exciting and powerful style of Jaded Star. Able to bring to the stage a stage presence made of much character and a great energy boost. The group is a collaboration between Maxi and Raphael Saini, drummer and ex Iced Earth. The same Maxi, is also a producer of their album, recorded in Sweden in Fredman Studios.

A brief exchange stage brings to the stage the Austrian symphonic power Serenity. Accompanied on this tour by Tasha vocalist, the four headed by Georg Neuhauser immediately show what they are made, we talk about a group that has shared scenes with some of the biggest names in the international metal scene, Kamelot and Edenbridge for example, a group that impresses from the first notes its strength and style. A tribute to our house genius Leonardo Da Vinci by Georg to go with the songs of their “Codex Atlanticus”, the fifth album from Serenity came out last spring. In the lineup there are songs like “Iniquity” and “The Perfect Woman”, the ballad “My Final Chapter” particularly exciting, prior to which Georg invites the public to raise nicely lit cell to accompany the song with a touch of romance. To underline the thanks to the public of the only Italian member of the group, bassist Fabio D’Amore, who claims to be missing from the stage of Italy for several years and be pleasantly surprised by the affection that people actually post it reserved the Serenity. A success which I personally think is fully deserved.

Loads and excited about what we have seen and heard, the last stage gearbox propels us the exhibition of Xandria. Eagerly awaited by the public, the intro of epic tones only reinforces the atmosphere. Having the opportunity to see a live of a group of this kind is always an experience that can become unforgettable, and so it was, at least from my point of view. The first to go on stage is the drummer, who greets inciting the public while the presses intro promising the arrival of the other members of the legendary German band.

Last to appear, the wonderful Dianne, who from 2013 to voice the epic stories translated into music by Xandria. Elegance and sophistication combined with a spectacular voice make her an indescribable presence, a real queen, who on stage wearing a crown of golden skulls, and who accompanies us on a musical journey in thirteen stages, as many of the songs in the lineup. Songs like “Nightfall”, “Nevermore”, “Cursed” and “Voyage of the Fallen” will wrap up with the acclaimed “Valentine”. Impossible not to get involved by the style and the special features of a group that falls in my opinion, the Olympus of European symphonic metal.

Let me conclude with a consideration about the fact that I am always pleasantly surprised when groups of this caliber, and specifically I’m referring to all three bands, show not only their great art on stage, but also a lot of sympathy when you get a chance to interact with them, and for this they deserve fully all the love and support of their fans.
